The United States and Australia have always been involved in the men’s
Olympic swimming events because they have been on a championship streak
due to having the top athletes in the world. For America, Michael Phelps,
Cody Miller, and Ryan Murphy have been successful swimmers throughout
their careers. Australia's Grant Hackett, Michael Klim, and Mat Belcher are all
on the Australian Relay Team and have been strong and successful swimmers
for many years.
Michael Phelps is an American Olympic swimmer who was born on June
30, 1985. He competed in many Olympic challenges like the men’s 4 by 100,
4 by 200-meter freestyle relay, and the men’s 4 by 200 meter individual medley.
Since 1992, he has won 28 medals in total, but 23 of them have been gold
medals. The other 5 have been silver and bronze. Cody Miller who was born
on January 9, 1992, is also an Olympic swimmer for America. He has competed
in the men’s meter breaststroke and the men’s 4 by 100-meter medley relay.
During his career, Miller has won three gold medals, two silver, and two bronze.
Ryan Murphy is an American Olympic Swimmer who was born on July 2, 1995.
He competes in the men’s backstroke and mixed medley and has won seven
gold medals, eight silver, and one bronze.
Australia's Olympic swimmers have seen much success, too. Grant
Hackett has been an Australian Olympic swimmer since 1997 and is known for
his performance in the men’s 1500 meter freestyle races in Sydney and Athens.
He has also won 10 long-course championship medals. Kyle Chalmers is an
Olympic swimmer who started his career in Olympics in 2016. However, he was
unable to compete due to heart surgery because of a heart condition called
supraventricular tachycardia. He is hoping to compete in Tokyo. Michael Klim became an Olympic swimmer in 1994 and has competed in Olympic games all across the world, such as Victoria, British Columbia, and Canada. In fact, in 1997, Swimming World Magazine named him as Male Swimmer of the year for the 21-time world record holder.
